Neil Peart, the drummer of Canadian super group RUSH has died at age 67.
Reports quoting a statement issued by his family Friday, say the influential musician and lyricist died earlier this week after having been diagnosed with brain cancer.
Peart was renowned for his chops on a drum kit, weilding his sticks to bang out a beat for any music genre and blend several styles together in one composition.
Rush formed in the 1970s. Rooted in Ontario the band took off and over decades has kept a loyal, global fan base and has sold millions of records.
Rush was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994 and the U.S. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
