A complaint about an alleged historic sexual assault has led Ontario Provincial Police in eastern Ontario to arrest and charge one of their members.
The OPP Professional Standards Bureau says it received the complaint in January. The alleged victim said the incident occurred seven years ago in 2013.
This week an OPP Constable with almost 20 years of service, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference involving a minor. Pending a court appearance in L’Orignal which is near Hawksberry, on the Ottawa River. The accused police officer has been suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario.
The officer’s identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
