Drugs were was seized during a traffic stop over the weekend.
On Saturday night, (Sept 19), Quinte West OPP officers conducted the traffic stop on Dundas Street West.
The police investigation led to the 42-year-old driver being charged with having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
But further investigation led to the discovery a large quantity of suspected cannabis in the vehicle, where the approximately seven kilograms of cannabis was seized.
Shawn Phillip Eckhardt of Niagara Falls was charged Possessing of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling.
He was released with court dates on November 30th and December 17th at the Belleville courthouse.
