A handful of employees from Cobourg’s Cameco Fuel Manufacturing have been sent home to self-isolate and get a COVID-19 test after an employee tested positive.
According to Cameco, the employee made a personal decision to get a test because of the recent community spread.
Yesterday morning, after receiving the news of the positive result, the individual left the facility and contacted the site nurse.
Cameco says they’re providing the affected employee with support to ensure they have the resources they need, adding that the individual had followed all COVID-19 protocols while at work.
In addition to the handful of employees being sent home, Cameco has undergone cleaning and disinfection protocols.
Despite the news of the positive case, Cameco says there has been no impact on their operations.
