With low rain amounts over the past three months and limited amounts of snow over the winter, there is a level 1 low water statement in the Lower Trent Conservation region.
As part of a level 1 low water statement, local municipalities, residents and businesses are asked to reduce their water use by 10 percent. (Lower Trent Conservation says that from March to May, the three-month rainfall totals recorded by Environment Canada in Trenton was 112 millimetres, which is 51 percent of normal precipitation for this time of year.)
