The Cobourg Community Centre is hosting the Northumberland Minor Hockey Associations Silver Stick Tournament this weekend.
The tournament was named after the Ottawa Silver Seven hockey team bock in the early 1900s, the Silver Stick was created by Jack Kinsella in 1957.
The International Silver Stick Association has been honoured by having the original Silver Stick used for the opening ceremonies in 1958 displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1982.
With teams from all over eastern Ontario playing the tournament has several age levels that showcase their skills.
