Local Bay of Quinte conservationist groups have met with the leader of Ontario’s Green Party to discuss how best to protect the environment while addressing the region’s affordable housing needs.
At issue is how to build more affordable shelter without clobbering nature and farmland.
During the meeting the Green’s talked about freezing urban boundaries so that rural land isn’t gobbled up by developers. Using more infill housing, less sprawl and permanently protecting important land and habitat from development – were also discussed.
