A most delicious fundraiser has kicked off in Quinte West in support of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The inaugural Match Madness Challenge began on March 1st and continues until March 31 with several restaurants in Quinte West taking up the challenge. Each one has picked a menu item, with $1 from each feature item sold matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 with 100 per cent of the proceeds supporting critically needed equipment at Trenton Memorial Hospital.
The idea for the Match Madness Challenge came from a local donor, who issued a challenge after Christmas to raise funds up to $10,000 and he will match them, dollar for dollar.
“I had an idea that would enable everyone in our community to help support our hospital. People have to eat,” said the benefactor, who has asked to remain anonymous.
Lindsay Butcher Dodds, operations and community impact specialist with the hospital foundation, said the community can not only support local restaurants through the Match Madness campaign, but the hospital, too.
Operations and Community Impact Specialist Lindsay Butcher Dodds explains.
“We’re really just trying to challenge people to step up, buy local and go out to those restaurants,” she added.
The list of Quinte West restaurants that have signed up to be TMHF corporate partners as well as their featured menu item is as follows:
• Riverbrake Cafe Bistro (daily lunch special);
• Little Caesars Pizza, Trenton (medium specialty Hot and Ready Pizza);
• Tomasso’s Italian Grille (Penne Portobello);
• Golden Valley Restaurant (Chicken Parmesan);
• Subway Restaurants, Trenton/Brighton (Chicken/bacon footlong);
• Gogi Korean Grill (Bulgogi).
All proceeds from the Match Madness
Challenge will serve as part of TMHF’s $2 million fundraising goal this year for the hospital to purchase such items as crash carts, bladder scanner, ECG, Thulium laser, OR table, vital signs monitors, beds/stretchers, steam sterilizers and more.
New and replacement of medical equipment will help reduce wait times, enable less invasive treatments, allow for faster recoveries, help to recruit and retain medical professionals and, most importantly, could save a life.
