Today is the first day of Pride Month.
The Town of Cobourg and the Cobourg Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Committee will host a flag raising ceremony to mark the beginning of Pride Month at Victoria Hall.
Historically the Town of Cobourg has flown the Pride Flag at Victoria Hall as a symbol of support.
With the formation of the EDI Committee in 2021, this will be the first time the Town of Cobourg has hosted a formal flag raising ceremony.
E-D-I Coordinator, Yasmyn Belle called this an important step forward in marking our allyship and continued commitment to becoming a more inclusive community.
As well, on June 1 at 12:00 p.m. the Cobourg Police Service will be joined by PFLAG Cobourg/Port Hope for the raising the Pride flag at the Police Station, 107 King Street West followed by a community barbeque until 2:00 p.m. Donations will be accepted to support PFLAG Cobourg/Port Hope.
