Walking Tours in Port Hope continue until October 1st.
The King Street tour provides an in-depth exploration of the stories and histories of more than 30 properties and points of interest along King Street, including St. Mark’s Church (which is celebrating its 200th anniversary) and several homes related to the history of the Smith Family.
The Downtown tours Get explore the stories and histories of more than 25 properties and points of interest in the Heritage District of Port Hope.
From August 20th until October 1st you can enjoy any one of the three different walking tours.
According to Marnie Bickle, CO-chair of the Port Hope House Tour, the idea for walking tours came as a reaction to restrictions that came with COVID.
2022 features three routes: King Street, and two routes through the historic downtown core.
Bickle told us more about the tours.
Knowledgeable guides will lead you on a leisurely and informative tour through one of the three neighbourhoods.
The 90 minute tours will take you on an easy 2 km stroll past some of the most recognizable landmarks in Port Hope.
Marnie told us guides discuss the buildings you go by and the people who built, lived or worked in, and restored them.
