Legion’s 30th Annual Angel Tree and Toy Drive Begins Again in Brighton
The Legion’s 30th Annual Angel Tree initiative has begun and each year, the committee asks the public to donate new, unwrapped toys to local children who might not otherwise have gifts to unwrap on Christmas morning.
Committee Member Bev Cook told us the program is open to everyone.
“People in Brighton are always so generous,” said Bev Cook – committee member. “You can select an angel from the tree to purchase a gift for or you can make a cash donation and our committee members will pick out gifts for you.”
The Angel Tree is located at the Legion on Park Street. The tree is up and decorated with Angel ornaments that contain the sex and age of a local child in need of a gift. Unwrapped toys can also be dropped off at these locations too.
Bev told us they work to ensure there’s a balance of gifts.
Committee members pair these donations with a package of craft supplies, warm hats and mittens and of course sweets, so that each child has a wonderful goodie bag to open too.
You can choose a recipient from newborn to young adult.
“We have a wide age range, we like to make sure that everyone in a family has a gift to open,” added Cook.
What better way is there to get into the holiday spirit then purchasing a toy for a child!
The Legion also gets help from other community organizations and businesses.
