The Provincial Government has announced a multi-phased plan to reduce surgery backlog
On January 16, Doug Ford announced a plan to move some surgeries to private clinics to relieve stress on Ontario’s healthcare system.
Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini told us there is a backlog of 200,000 people waiting for surgery.
Piccini told us it’s a multi- phased plan that will help ease pressure on hospitals.
When asked if concerns that “for profit” clinics work to upsell clients, Piccini had this to say.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that he’ll be monitoring to ensure the principles of Canada’s universal public system are respected.
Premier Ford acknowledged the debate on who should deliver healthcare and said all he cares about is getting people the care they need quickly and safely.
