HUGS Brighton is planning the Come Fly With Me Gala, an evening of food and entertainment on the evening of May 27th, 2023, at the National Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton to help its host families and 35 Ukrainians refugees who live in the area. They are $100 each and you can purchase a single ticket or a table of 8 tickets on the site.
“It is a unique venue, and the evening will start at 6:00 pm, with the doors opening to music from the Take Three Trio. We will have various food stations that offer hot and cold selections to choose along with dessert, coffee and tea,” said Barb Matthews – volunteer with HUGS Brighton. “There will also be silent auction items and internationally recognized musician, Philip Kerr and special guests will be performing after dinner, with more surprises to come for attendees.”
HUGS (Helping Ukrainians Get Settled) Brighton, started in March 2020, is now a registered not for profit organization and has helped area host families assist 35 adult Ukrainians flee the war and settle in the Brighton area.
Matthews said they’re there to help out the Ukrainian refugees in any way they can.
Given the scale of what the host families are doing, Matthews said their help is greatly appreciated.

The Come Fly With Me Gala is on May 27th, 2023. Door open at 6:00 pm at the National Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton. It will be a night of food and entertainment, proceeds to continue to support the work of HUGS Brighton.
“Many volunteers and the generous support of the community who are sponsoring the event and donating items for our silent auction, are making this event a must attend.” Added Matthews.
