The Belleville Spirits have won gold in U16 competition at the weekend Ontario Cup at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
The midget girls team finished 9th overall provincially.
Many of the Spirit members are from the Northumberland area including Brighton.
Down 10-2 early the game, the Spirits found their stride and defeated the Barrie Royals 41-36 to win the gold medal.
