Celebrating it’s third year, Ride For Rebound returns on May 27th with options for all levels of riders.
You can take on the 80 km route that begins in Campbellford, or a 40, 25, or 10 kilometre route.
Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf told us about the beginnings of the ride.
Chief VandeGraaf saw first hand the impact the pandemic was having on youth and decided to do something about it.
Rebound Child and Youth Services supports the emotional wellness of children, youth, and families throughout Northumberland County with programs and services designed to empower them.
The CUIP Program (Collaborative 14 and Under Intervention Program) is a great example which has provided quality holistic programming with a strong community focus, designed to emphasize the ripple effect that early intervention can have on the lives of young people.
Chief VandeGraaf told us that there is a route suited for everyone.
Through mental health services, literacy and learning support, youth justice diversion, counselling and therapy, the Family Wellness Hub, parenting programs, and a multitude of community partnerships, Rebound is creating a brighter future for its clients.
“Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland continues building youth resilience and confidence through early interventions and low-barrier access to services. This important work significantly impacts future outcomes for youth success,” says Chief Paul VandeGraaf, Cobourg Police Service. “For the third year, I am gearing up for a ride around the County to raise awareness and funds to support Rebound. I hope everyone will join me by riding, donating, or sponsoring. Your effort on May 27th will leave a year long ‘hand up’ for youth across Northumberland County.”
The goal for Ride for Rebound this year is to raise $25,000 and every dollar pledged will go towards continuing and enhancing Rebound’s Family Wellness Hub programs and services.
According to the Chief, Play It Again Sports has been fundamental to the the Ride.
