A ceremonial groundbreaking took place last month at the site of the new Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre in Campbellford.
The new facility will boast an ice pad, lap pool, therapy pool as well as space for a group fitness and wellness centre.
Members of Trent Hills council were on hand with YMCA members to mark the occasion.
Eunice Kirkpatrick, CEO of YMCA Northumberland, shared that this project has been a “dream come true for the community, especially since it is an opportunity to serve the rural part of
Northumberland County.”
The $21 million dollar project is being funded in part through the Federal and Provincial Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund program and support from the community initiated by the Flourish campaign.
The facility will be jointly operated by YMCA Northumberland and is expected to be complete by the Fall of 2024.
