The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is not urging their members to vote in favour of a walkout.
But the union representing elementary teachers across the province, including in our Upper Canada Board, says they’ll be holding strike votes in mid-September.
Acclaimed President Karen Brown spoke at their annual meeting.
Brown says talks haven’t been going well.
ETFO, high school, Catholic, and French language teachers all head back to school without contracts. At the heart of their talks are raises and addressing an increase of violence in schools system-wide.
Brown outlined the little progress that’s being made in their talks.
The news of job action, and a potential strike has raised the stress levels of many parents who could be left searching for childcare. The High School teachers will also be taking a strike vote this fall.
