The 15th Anniversary of the Annual Strong Kids Duathlon was a big hit with athletes and spectators alike.
The event brought out 100 local children to race and raise funds and awareness for the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign.
Campaign Chair Doctor David Kim told us about the difference YMCA makes in our community.
Through donations and community sponsors, the event raised close to $8,000 which will go to the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign.
YMCA Board Director Jessica Fraser-Thomas told us how the money will be spent.
Jessica encapsulated the day saying “Hearts were racing, smiles were radiant and spirits were soaring”
It’s easy to see that the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign was the big winner from Friday’s Duathlon.
Fraser-Thomas told us about the great feeling being part of this event brought her.
“Seeing the children take the spotlight fills me with immense joy,” says Volunteer Race Director, Rod Simpson from the finish line. “Their unbridled enthusiasm and the sheer delight on their faces as they proudly earn their first medal is infectious.”
