Two Northumberland companies are investing almost $8 and a half million dollars in their manufacturing operations.
Cobourg’s Beneco Packaging has purchased new automated equipment to expand their product line and Custom Plastics International Limited is investing in its injection molding operations.
Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini was joined by local dignitaries including Mayor Lucas Cleveland to make the announcement of the Province’s investment through the Regional Development Program’s Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli said both company’s investments are a sign of great confidence in Northumberland.
Fedeli says what we need now are more workers.
The Minister went on to say that municipal support is critical to expanding the manufacturing sector.
Between them the two companies will receive almost three quarters of a million dollars in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
Family owned Custom Plastics will receive about 217-thousand dollars and Beneco half a million.
