This campaign revolves around its iconic purple scarf, drawing attention to the growing need for gender-based violence education and support programs. Throughout November, communities across Ontario will unite to demonstrate their backing for survivors of gender-based violence and the local services that assist them.
While this takes place, Cornerstone is urging members of the Northumberland County community to take a stand against gender-based violence.
Northumberland County’s Community Flagpole will proudly raise a “Wrapped in Courage” flag, and during the November 15th County Council meeting, a proclamation will be presented to recognize November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, marking the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
To show your support, you can purchase handmade, Fairtrade “Wrapped in Courage” purple scarves from Cornerstone throughout November. For more details, contact cfordham@cornerstonenorthumberland.ca.
