A 19-year-old violin virtuoso is taking centre stage for Les AMIS’ first concert of the new year in Cobourg.
On Jan. 7 at 3.pm., Grace Lau will perform a mixed program at Victoria Hall. The Toronto musician told us more.
Lau told us about one of the songs she’ll be performing: Fantaisie Bohémienne.
Fantaisie Bohémienne was originally wrote by Les AMIS’ artistic director, Michael Pepa. Lau recaps inviting Pepa to one of her recitals, which immediately caused Pepa to request her for the concert series.
Lau told us the program opens with Romance for Violin and Piano composed by American composer Amy Beach, Partita for Violin Solo No. 1 in B Minor composed by J.S. Bach, Pepa’s Fantaisie Bohémienne before ending with Violin Concerto No. 3 by Camille Saint-Saens. Lau is joined by Ben Smith on piano.
