There will be a daylong Opening Ceremony event at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Peterborough on February 1st.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, Benjamin Tenesia says the theme this year is “Our Stories to Tell”.
The opening ceremony will feature a mobile black history museum and a list of guest speakers.
Tenesia says this month is not just for black people, but for all Canadians.
According to Tenesia, it’s important to share these stories.
She adds this is an occasion that challenges us to look beyond the curriculum, to engage in meaningful conversations, and to embrace the diverse narratives that shape our understanding of the world.
