Transition House’s Rev. Neil Ellis provided viewers of the zoom meeting an overview of the proposed use of the new building including how the different floors would be used with the main floor acting as a warming/cooling centre with beds on the second floor and office space on the third.
Ellis also fielded questions that ranged from security at the shelter facility to explanations of just what low barrier means.
Residents can participate at an upcoming in-person meeting on Feb. 12, 6-7:30 p.m., at the Cobourg legion.
Once the community engagement phase concludes later this month, all feedback will be consolidated into a final report for county council, with recommendations from staff on how feedback will be incorporated into planning and preparations for 310 Division St., said a county spokesperson.
This initiative follows the county’s $2.4-million acquisition, funded through reserves, of the 47-bedroom complex to provide shelter spaces and support services.
