Northumberland OPP say a Trenton resident is facing a careless driving charge after a passenger vehicle allegedly collided with a marked police cruiser on Hwy. 401.
On Saturday, March 9, at about 8:15 a.m., Northumberland OPP said police were investigating a separate collision on Hwy. 401 westbound in the Township of Hamilton.
According to police, a passenger vehicle travelling westbound allegedly lost control and collided with the unoccupied police vehicle parked on the hard shoulder. The passenger vehicle came to a rest off of the highway and nobody was injured, reported police.
A 38-year-old Trenton resident was charged with careless driving, said police, on Monday, March 11.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court at a future date, said police.
Police are continuing to remind drivers of the importance of slowing down, moving over and proceeding with caution for parked emergency vehicles.
