Participants of the 2024 Polar Plunge were “freezin’ for a reason” on Thursday March 28, 2024 at the Cobourg Marina in support of special Olympics athletes across the province.
We caught up with Cobourg police Chief Paul VandeGraaf and Port Hope police Chief Tim Farquharson as they returned to land.
Organized again this year by Cobourg Police Service’s Constable Josalyn Hilts and Port Hope Police Service’s Constable Tammie Staples, the plunge will help enrich the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities by promoting awareness and fundraising for Special Olympics programming.
According to Chief VandeGraaf, this year’s event raised over $25,000 locally and over $1 million dollars across the province.
