Classic Rock 107.9’s York Bell Smith was joined by afternoon host Mark Hanson in Cobourg at Cucina Urbana for a day-long broadcast revolving around the total solar eclipse.
The solar eclipse reached totality in Cobourg at 3:20 p.m. and York described the scene at the Cobourg beach.
Visitors to the beach made the best of the conditions which made viewing the eclipse challenging, but many were happy just to experience night during the day.
Total darkness set in for just over one minute, bringing night to the area and causing street lights to activate as well as solar lighting at the beach.
Hanson commented on the crowd’s reaction once light began once again to trickle past the obstruction of the moon.
Even though the cloudy conditions made for less than optimal viewing, the experience we be one that no one will ever forget.
