Northumberland OPP say a Brighton resident is facing charges related to being intoxicated in a public place and for allegedly causing mischief while later in custody.
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at about 6:45 p.m., police said they responded to a report of a disturbance on Dundas Street in Brighton.
Further reports were received pertaining to the same person at a commercial premises off Prince Edward Street, added police.
Police said they shortly afterwards located the accused allegedly causing a further disturbance to passing motorists before being arrested and transported to a nearby detachment where mischief was caused to government property inside.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 31-year-old Brighton resident was charged with being intoxicated in a public place, and mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused is due in Cobourg court at a future date, said police.
