
Brighton’s Blue Dragons continue to dominate on the track and in the field. Brighton’s Blue Dragons picked up multiple notable wins on the track and in the field at the Limestone Invitational in Kingston.
Fifty-seven East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) track and field athletes competed at the Kingston invitational April 25, 2024. And several of the athletes brought home top three finishes and/or multiple wins.
“Highlights included an ENSS sweep of the podium in the novice boys’ 1,500-metre,” said coach and ENSS teacher Anne Falla.
Jack Turner was first (4:39) and his teammates Sullivan Tait (4:42) and Dawson Dunham (4:46) were second and third.
Seth Black netted another first-place win for ENSS in the novice boys’ javelin (39.90 m) – and took second in shot put (11.94 m.)
For the junior girls, Victoria Fraser won second in discus (21.89 m) and third in shot put (9.10 m.)
Another dozen ENSS athletes took home top three finishes for Brighton.
Aidan Molenhuis earned second in senior high jump, as well as fourth in the 100-metre hurdles.
Meanwhile, Dominic Rittwage won second in the junior 100 m, and Aidan Fairbank second in the senior 100 m.
Hannah Millington soared with a second-place win in junior high jump.
Jetayah Casselman was among the athletes to take home multiple wins for seniors with third place finishes in the 100 m and long jump.
In the open girls’ 2,000-metre steeplechase, Cadence Tait took third.
For the junior boys’ 1,500 m, Owen McDougall took third – for the seniors, Ethan Miklos also finished third.
In novice triple jump, Vincent Vroegryk picked up a third-place win, as did Alivia King.
In seniors’ javelin, Sean O’Reilly finished third. In senior discus, Angus McDougall also picked up a third-place win.
The Blue Dragons compete next at the Hungerford Track and Field Classic in Brockville on May 10.
