Northumberland OPP say they have made an arrest after a theft and fraud investigation.
On Monday, April 29, 2024, police issued a release saying back on March 9, 2024, at about 2:30 p.m., police responded to a theft of a bank card belonging to a customer who was at a commercial premises in Roseneath.
Unauthorized transactions allegedly had occurred at another nearby premises using the stolen card and the suspect had left the area prior to police arrival, reported OPP.
Police said they identified an individual associated to an address in Oshawa and as a result of the investigation, officers located the accused on April 26, 2024.
As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Oshawa resident was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and fraud under $5,000.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
