Northumberland OPP say they’ve seized more than $9,000 worth of drugs after an arrest of a wanted individual and traffic stop in Cramahe.
On Thursday, May 2, police issued a release confirming they had made an arrest and laid charges in relation to drugs.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, April 30, at about 1:20 p.m., police said an officer was on patrol on County Road 25 when an automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) notification was received in relation to a wanted person.
Police said they initiated a traffic stop, and the driver was arrested on a warrant for a local police service investigation. Police were then led into drug-trafficking investigation where 44.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, 14.2 grams of suspected cocaine, $795 in Canadian currency and scales were seized, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 40-year-old Grafton resident was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin.)
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The street value of the suspected fentanyl is worth about $8,050 and the suspected cocaine $1,280, said police.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date and custody was transferred to the local police service, said police.
