There’s still a chance you can have some fun by hitting the links this June and help some furry friends in need in Hastings-Prince Edward by doing so.
The Humane Society Hastings and Prince Edward (HSHPE) has announced Rushnell Funeral Homes Inc. is launching an inaugural best ball tournament on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Trillium Wood Golf Course, which is in Corbyville.
One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised during the fundraising tourney will help the humane society.
“We are so excited to say that this tournament is 90 per cent sold out and (we) have received (such a) positive response for this event,” said Ashley Rushnell, funeral director and event chair. “Our family loves animals, so it was easy to choose the humane society as the beneficiary of this tournament.”
As a three-generation, locally-owned business since 1961, the Rushnell family and their funeral homes have supported many community events and are looking forward to making this an annual tournament, reads a recent release from HSHPE
“This inaugural Rushnell Charity Golf Tournament is a testament to the Rushnell family’s devotion to the communities they serve and to their personal passion for animals,” said Greg Sudds, chair of HSHPE’s board of directors. “We cannot thank the family enough for their compassion and we look forward to a fun and prosperous day on the golf course.”
Monies raised from the tournament will help HSHPE offset rising expenses brought about by increases in surrendered and abandoned animals, and rising costs for food, shelter supplies, medicine and veterinary care.
Currently, the tournament is also hoping to rally a few more hole sponsors at $250 per hole and to add some door prizes to make the event an even bigger success, noted organizers.
The Rushnell family is also extending a special thanks to all participating golfers and the amazing sponsors so far who’ve stepped up to help.
