After responding to a report of an alleged homicide at a Belleville residence, police say they’ve made an arrest for first-degree murder based on their initial investigation.
On Tuesday, May 21, at about 1:28 a.m., members of the Belleville Police Service’s uniform division responded to a residence on Hastings Park Drive after receiving a report of a homicide at the residence, said police.
Upon arrival, police said they located a deceased 26-year-old female and a 30-year-old male who had lacerations to his wrists. Both parties were located inside the residence, said police.
Based on police observations and the initial investigation, police said the male was arrested for first-degree murder.
The male was transported by paramedics to Kingston General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and he remains in police custody at the hospital, said police.
The names of the accused and deceased are not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notification, said police.
The service’s criminal investigations division, with help from the forensic identifications unit, continue to investigate the incident, added police.
Uniform police personnel also remain at the residence preserving scene continuity, reads a recent release.
