The Northumberland Humane Society (NHS) has announced the relocation of their Thrift Store to a new address at 24 Covert Street in Cobourg.
The grand opening is set for next month, but they’ll be having a “soft” opening this Saturday, June 15, 2024. The current store will continue operations at its present location until June 12th to ensure a smooth transition for all customers and donors.
According to a media release, NHS’s decision to move the Thrift Store is strategic, aiming to expand their retail space and enhance their fundraising capabilities. The new location on Covert Street has undergone significant renovations to provide a more organized and spacious shopping experience for the community.
Executive Director Henny Venus tells us more.
This move is a crucial one for the NHS as they heavily rely on the thrift store sales, in addition to community fundraising, and generous donations to sustain their operations and care for homeless animals across Northumberland County.
With the new location will also come extended hours of operation and the opportunity to take on more volunteers according to Venus.
Starting June 15th, the NHS will accept donations at the new site from Wednesday to Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The funds raised through the Thrift Store are vital for providing essential care and a better life for countless animals in need.
Venus tells us the new location will also come with new hours of operation.
The NHS Animal Shelter will continue its operations at 2363 Theatre Road, Cobourg. NHS looks forward to welcoming everyone to their new Thrift Store location, where every purchase helps improve the lives of animals in our community.
