To celebrate Father’s Day, the Ontario government is offering free fishing on June 15-16, 2024.
This weekend, anglers can fish without a licence on most lakes and rivers across the province.
Graydon Smith, Minister of Natural Resources, encourages families to take this opportunity to enjoy fishing together. “It’s a fun and relaxing way to spend time with loved ones,” Smith said.
Popular fish to catch include yellow perch, northern pike, and walleye.
Before heading out, anglers should review the Fishing Regulations Summary to ensure they are aware of any specific rules or limits in their chosen fishing area.
While no fishing licence is required, participants must carry identification showing their name and date of birth issued by the provincial or federal government.
