Here’s a quick look at some of what’s open and closed today during the Canada Day holiday in Brighton.
Recognized as a federal holiday, all government offices and services and most liquor stores are closed.
The Beer Store and LCBO here are not open during the holiday; however, the Beer Store in Cobourg is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sobey’s and No Frills in Brighton are both operating Monday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Quinte Transit is not operating for the holiday and will resume regular hours on Tuesday.
Brighton municipal offices/services also resume regular hours on Tuesday.
If in need of immediate assistance, it’s recommended residents call the “after hours numbers” found via the municipality’s webpage under “contact us.” (Environmental and public works after hours are reachable at 613-967-8707.)
In terms of waste services, collection set for Monday will be pushed to Tuesday, and so on through the week. Waste transfer stations are also closed for the holiday.
When in doubt about potential closures, call ahead before heading out.
Canada Day festivities today are ongoing throughout the day with fun at King Edward Park, Memorial Park, and Proctor House Museum. End the day with fireworks at King Edward.
