Long-time politician – and a staple of the Frankford community – Keith Reid has passed away.
Since the news broke about Reid’s passing, there has been an outpouring of support online, as residents recall his dedicated political service, commitment to community and driving change, and how he always waved with a friendly hello from his bright yellow truck.
“It is with deep sadness that the City of Quinte West acknowledges the passing of former Coun. Keith Reid,” said the city, in a statement on social media.
Reid served as a Frankford ward councillor from 2006 to 2018.
During his time on Quinte West council, he was a member of many city boards and committees, including the public works and environmental services committee, the economic development and revitalization committee, the Stirling and district arena board, and more, noted the city. He also served as a representative on the Hastings/Quinte long-term care committee and Hastings/Quinte social services committee, added city officials.
“He was a dedicated community member who will be remembered for his work on the Frankford Industrial Park, the Frankford community improvement plan (CIP) – downtown revitalization, and the lock 6 shore power program in Frankford,” continued officials.
“On behalf of all staff, the mayor and council, the city would like to offer sincere condolences to Keith’s family and friends.”
The city has lowered flags at its facilities to half-mast in Reid’s memory and noted a service will be held later.
