With temperatures soaring, the City of Quinte West has opened a cooling centre at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena to provide residents with a respite from the heat.
The centre is operational from July 29 to August 5, offering relief to those in need. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the centre welcomes all residents as temperatures rise above 31 degrees Celsius or humidex values exceed 35.
In addition to the cooling centre, Quinte West is keeping splash pads in Trenton and Frankford open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, ensuring residents have multiple options to beat the heat.
These measures, say the city, are part of efforts to ensure community safety and comfort during extreme weather. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to stay cool and hydrated throughout the week.
