With the Civic Day long-weekend providing a break for many on Monday, we’ve compiled a list of many of the resources you might need during your time off.
Note that it’s always best the call ahead to confirm hours of operation at local businesses, but here’s what residents can expect:
RECYCLING AND GARBAGE COLLECTION
As Monday is a holiday, all collections for the week will move ahead one day, so if you’re regular day is Monday, you’ll need to put out your items on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday and so on.
LIQUOR STORES
Cobourg LCBO and Beer Store are open with the same hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Port Hope and Brighton residents will need to travel outside of town, as all of their available locations will be closed.
PHARMACY
Both the Cobourg Shoppers and the Port Hope Shoppers Simply Pharmacy will be open. Brighton Rexall will be closed.
GROCERIES
Cobourg Foodland and Brighton Sobey’s will be open with regular store hours. Cobourg’s M&M Food Market will be opened from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Port Hope M&M’s from 10 a.m. to 5p.m.
WALMART
Cobourg Walmart will be open with regular hours.
BRIGHTON MUNICIPAL OFFICES
Municipal offices will be closed on Monday for the holiday and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
King Edward Park Arena and the Owen Gibb Community Hall will be closed.
PORT HOPE MUNICIPAL OFFICES
Municipal buildings will be closed and transit service will operate on a reduced schedule from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday for the holiday.
Municipal recreation facilities will be open at regular hours on the holiday.
The Hope Transfer Station and Port Hope Public Library branches will also be closed on Monday, August 5 for the holiday.
For urgent services related to water, wastewater, or roads, call 905-885-2431 and press * to reach the after-hours emergency line.
COBOURG MUNICIPAL OFFICES
Town of Cobourg municipal offices and buildings, including Victoria Hall, the Cobourg Community Centre, the Cobourg Public Library, Public Works Building 7 and the Venture13 will be closed on Monday, August 5, 2024.
Cobourg Transit will be running its regular hours of operation on the Civic Holiday.
The Civic Holiday weekend hours of operation at the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy Street) are as follows:
Friday, August 2 – 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 3 – 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, August 4 – 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Monday, August 5 – Closed
Tuesday, August 6 – 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
