If you’re interested in some free carnival fun, mark your calendars for “the Great Summer Carnival” happening this Saturday, Aug. 10 in Quinte West.
The city says this new, family-fun event is open to all as part of the “Quinte West Presents …” summer event series, which sees a new addition every August featuring a different theme annually.
This year’s summer carnival event offers up a variety of free carnival games, live entertainment, including DJ Leo and the comedic stylings of Dr. Von Houligan’s Traveling Variety Show, water fun, face painting, food and snack vendors, and more, says the city.
The festivities will start at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the Bob Wannamaker Amphitheatre in Centennial Park, located at 16 Couch Cres., Trenton.
Also happening at Centennial Park over the weekend is the Quinte West Soccer Club’s Cameron Memorial Soccer Tournament, and Quinte West Pop-ups are back all weekend, too. The QWABA peewee tourney is also underway until Aug. 11 at the Don Ogden Field at the park and Bain Park.
The city is anticipating parking in and around Centennial Park will be at a premium through the weekend. As a result, on Saturday, additional parking will be available at city hall on Creswell Drive.
A free parking shuttle will be provided to the amphitheatre at Centennial Park from 3 to 8 p.m.
Couch Crescent inside the park will be also closed to through-traffic between Bay Street and the Trenton Skatepark on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Cameron Memorial tournament.
