After allegedly seizing more than 40 grams of suspected meth and additional drugs and cash, a Quinte West resident is facing charges, say police.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, OPP issued a release saying a 31-year-old Quinte West resident was facing charges after a drug-trafficking investigation. On Monday, OPP said its East Region community street crime unit wrapped the investigation, with the arrest of one person.
Investigators allege they seized six grams of suspected fentanyl, more than 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine, nearly two grams of suspected cocaine and $1,600-plus in cash.
Police said the accused was located on Film Street – near McGill Street – and arrested after “a short-lived attempt to flee.”
As a result of the investigation, police said the accused was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was remanded into custody and will appear in Belleville court at a later date.
