
Three Quinte West residents are facing charges after police say they seized drugs, cash and weapons.
On Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, Quinte West OPP issued a release about a drug-trafficking investigation they say started earlier this summer.
On Thursday, police said the East Region OPP community street crime unit, tactics and rescue unit, emergency response team and canine unit, executed a warrant on Scott Street as part of their probe.
Investigators allege they located and seized more than 140 grams of cocaine and about 130 pills, including oxycocet, morphine, hydromorphone and lorazepam. Officers also allegedly seized cash and three weapons including a shotgun, replica handgun and crossbow, reported OPP.
Other drug paraphernalia and ammunition was also seized as part of the investigation, added police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 35-year-old Quinte West resident was charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
- Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
- Five counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid.
- Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking.
- Fail to comply with probation order.
This accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Belleville, said OPP, on Thursday.
Police said two other Quinte West residents – a 36-year-old and 35-year-old – were also charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
- Five counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid.
- Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before Belleville court at a later date.
None of these above charges have been proven in court.
