Prince Edward County OPP say an investigation is continuing after a six-year-old child was struck by a vehicle at Sandbanks Provincial Park.
According to OPP, the alleged incident happened last Friday, Sept. 20, around 7:30 p.m., at a campground at the park. The vehicle, which ran over the child’s leg, allegedly left the scene, reported OPP.
OPP said police were contacted about two hours later. Officers met with the family at a local hospital, prior to the six-year-old being transferred to a regional trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, said police.
A car was seen in the area at the time, but investigators want to hear from anyone else who may have witnessed the incident, said police, in a recent release.
Anyone with information or who may have relevant video is being asked to call Prince Edward OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E241265227.
