Ontario residents can now access free flu shots and the newly updated COVID-19 vaccines at local pharmacies, public health units, and clinics across the province.
Available to anyone over six months old, these vaccines help Ontarians stay protected from respiratory illnesses during the busy fall and winter season. Deputy Premier and Health Minister Sylvia Jones confirmed that expanding vaccine access allows families to better protect themselves and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
In addition to flu and COVID-19 vaccines, Ontario’s RSV immunization program, Beyfortus®, will launch on November 4. Available for infants born in 2024 and high-risk children up to 24 months, the program is designed to prevent severe respiratory complications in vulnerable groups. Pregnant women also have the option of Abrysvo® to protect their newborns through early infancy.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kieran Moore, urges older adults and those at high risk to stay up-to-date with their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, as it remains the best defence against serious health risks.
