A 27-year-old resident has died after injuries sustained in a crash that shut down Percy Street in Colborne last Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, say police.
In an update issued Tuesday, Nov. 5, Northumberland OPP confirmed the individual had succumbed to their injuries.
Police also noted the vehicle is classified as an electric scooter – not a bike, as previously reported.
OPP said their investigation is still ongoing.
As previously reported, emergency crews responded to the crash involving a pick-up truck and electric scooter on Oct. 31 just before 1 p.m.
“The operator of the electric vehicle was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 27-year-old, from Colborne, was further airlifted to a Toronto hospital by Ornge but the injuries sustained have since resulted in their death,” said OPP, in their Tuesday update.
The crash shut down Percy Street between King and Church streets into the evening, as traffic collision investigators also responded to document the scene.
Police are continuing to call on any witnesses or anyone with video/dash-cam footage of the collision to reach out to OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122.
“If you are affected by this incident or witnessed the collision and wish to speak to victim services, Peterborough-Northumberland Victim Services can be reached at 705-748-0324,” added OPP.
No other details were released by police.
