Campbellford Memorial Hospital’s (CMH) Foundation has launched its 18th annual Angels of Care campaign, aiming to raise over $500,000 for life-saving diagnostic equipment in the hospital’s Endoscopy Program.
This year, the funds will go toward purchasing seven new scopes, critical tools for detecting illnesses like colon and stomach cancer. Martha Hunt, Chair of the CMH Foundation, underscored the importance of these upgrades, noting, “The new scopes are essential for diagnosing serious health issues early, which is key to effective treatment and patient recovery.”
The campaign’s efforts are bolstered by a committed group of donors known as “The Matchmakers,” who have pledged up to $300,000 in matching donations. From now until December 31, every dollar donated will be matched, potentially doubling the impact of contributions.
Bruce Thompson, spokesperson for The Matchmakers, highlights the far-reaching benefits, stating, “These new scopes will improve early detection, reduce wait times, and attract new surgeons, ensuring more patients receive care locally.”
As government funding does not cover new equipment purchases, CMH relies on community support for crucial upgrades.
Donations to the Angels of Care campaign are accepted through the hospital’s foundation at 705-653-1140 ext. 2104 or online at givetocmh.ca.
