This winter, residents of Trent Hills will be able to shake off the blahs a bit easier thanks to the opening of the Sunny Life Recreation & Wellness Centre in Campbellford.
The new 64,000-square-foot centre is set to fully open soon just south of Campbellford on Seymour Quarry Road, offering an accessible, multi-use facility for all ages.
Trent Hills Mayor Bob Crate is thrilled to see the project come to fruition.
The $21-million centre, funded in part by a $7.5-million grant from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, features a 25-metre pool, a therapy pool, ice pad, fitness centre, and multi-purpose rooms.
According to Crate, they’re planning a big event to launch the space to the public.
A grand opening is being planned for late November or early December.
In partnership with YMCA Northumberland, the centre will provide a range of wellness programs, fitness classes, swimming lessons, and rehabilitation services.
Crate tells us more.
The vision for the centre emerged from a 15-year planning process addressing the need for improved recreation and aquatics programming in Trent Hills, backed by both the Campbellford Seymour Community Foundation and dedicated municipal funds.
