Santa is coming to Brighton this Friday, Nov. 15, and that means there will be road closures to accommodate the parade.
Here’s what you need to know about the road closures:
On Friday, Nov. 15, starting at 6:30 p.m., and for the duration of the parade, the following closures will be in place:
Terry Fox Drive from Elizabeth Street to Dundas Street.
Dundas Street from Terry Fox Drive to Young Street.
Prince Edward Street from Sanford Street to Chapel Street.
Main Street from Prince Edward Street to Ontario Street.
Maplewood Avenue from Main Street to Chapel Street.
Chapel Street from Maplewood Avenue to Prince Edward Street.
Elizabeth Street at Prince Edward Street to Elizabeth Street at Terry Fox Drive.
Here’s what you need to know about the parade and Light up Brighton:
More than 50 floats will be part of the magic this year.
The parade kicks off at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Alice and Dundas streets. The parade will then make its way up Main Street, turn onto Maplewood Avenue through to Chapel Street, then make a left onto Prince Edward and head down Elizabeth Street before ending at the Dundas Street and Terry Fox Drive intersection.
The festivities will include local bands playing holiday classics, and Canada Post carriers are returning to collect letters to Santa.
“Light up Brighton” fun returns to the downtown and Memorial Park starting at 5:30 and running until just before the start of the parade. Check out the Christmas trees and light decorations by local businesses, and the ‘lighting up’ ceremony is set for 6:30 p.m. There will be hot chocolate and treats.
