Belleville police say an investigation is continuing into a suspicious incident after responding to what initially appeared to be a “small explosion.”
On Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at about 8:15 a.m., police said they were called to the Riverside Trail and McNabb Tower area after “evidence of what looked to be a small explosion was discovered.”
Upon arrival, PVC piping and parts of fireworks were found, reported police.
Police said they reviewed video footage of the area, and a man was allegedly observed approaching the area with an item in hand at about 3:25 a.m.
The item was ignited, which looked like fireworks, said police, adding the man then left the area walking on Front Street.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, police released images of the alleged incident and a suspect.
Police are asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact Const. O’Hara at cohara@bellevilleps.ca.
