YMCA Northumberland continues to celebrate those who make positive change one act of selflessness at a time.
The YMCA Northumberland Peace Medal Breakfast highlighted how small, intentional acts of kindness can foster peace and create lasting change. Held at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre, the 36th annual event celebrated individuals whose selfless contributions build a more cohesive community.
Adult Peace Medal recipients Ashley Crews and Kat Ross who the Y team say exemplify this spirit. Crews, through her compassionate work with local animal rescues and mental health advocacy, and Ross, with her lifelong dedication to education and volunteering.
Youth honourees Katy and Cammy Nguyen were recognized for their global and local volunteer efforts, inspiring others through service and leadership.
Rev. Dr. Karen Hamilton emphasized the importance of listening, acting, and fostering hope in building peace, underscoring the power of everyday gestures.
