Police say they’ve seized several firearms and ammunition that investigators believe to be stolen after a warrant was executed in Campbellford.
On Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, Northumberland OPP issued a release saying a 33-year-old Trent Hills resident was facing multiple firearm-related charges after a search warrant was executed last week at a Bridge Street location in Campbellford. OPP said officers with the Peterborough-Northumberland community street crime unit, emergency response team and the tactics and rescue unit executed the warrant on Nov. 28, 2024, shortly after 5 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, police one person was arrested. The accused is a 33-year-old Trent Hills resident, who was charged with possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime, possession of a firearm knowing a serial number has been tampered with, possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, seven counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and seven counts of breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Among the items police said were seized were four shotguns and four rifles, along with ammunition and a bullet-proof vest.
“Investigators believe the firearms and ammunition to be stolen and (are) working to reunite the property with its rightful owners,” said OPP. “If you believe you may be the owner of the recovered items, please contact the Northumberland (OPP) Detachment (in) Campbellford at 705-653-3300.”
Police noted their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is also urged to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips through Crime Stoppers are anonymous and can also be made online.
